The out-of-office went up before the honeymoon, standard stuff, cheerful mention of being unreachable and back on a certain date. He came back exactly on schedule, resumed work, emails, meetings, everything normal.

The auto-reply, however, stayed switched on for three extra weeks. Clients kept receiving it the entire time, cheerfully informed he was still unreachable while he sat right there, actively responding to their emails underneath it.

Nobody on the team told him. Not out of malice, just pure comic momentum that nobody wanted to interrupt. It eventually became a running office joke, everyone quietly wondering aloud how "married life must really be something."
