I turned down a promotion because i was tired and everyone thinks i’m making a mistake I was recently offered a promotion with a better title and meaningful salary increase. Five years ago, I would have accepted before the conversation ended. This time I said no. The role involves late calls, frequent travel and managing a much larger team. I'm already tired and don't want every part of my life to become work. My colleagues think I'm damaging my career and even my family doesn't fully understand why someone would reject more money.
