had a stop loss on a biotech position, set for good reason, proper risk management, the responsible thing to do. stock dipped, hit my stop, sold me out. clean, disciplined, exactly how you're supposed to do it. felt fine about it for about twenty minutes.
then FDA news dropped. unexpected. the good kind. stock rips 30% on the announcement, straight up, the exact move I'd been positioned for before my own stop loss kicked me out at the bottom of the dip.
twenty minutes. I missed a 30% rip by twenty minutes because I did everything right.
and that's the thing nobody tells you, being reasonable doesn't make it hurt less. the stop was correct. the logic was sound. I'd do it again. it stings exactly the same regardless. I got punished for good discipline and rewarded for nothing, and the market just moved on without me like always
