bought INTC because I've used their chips since I was a kid. that was the thesis. that was the whole thesis. "I've trusted this brand my whole life, it's a legendary American company, it'll come back." pure sentimental loyalty, zero actual analysis.
rode it down almost 50%. nostalgia held those shares the entire way, whispering "it's Intel, it can't stay down" while the fundamentals said otherwise and everyone else rotated into names that were, you know, actually executing.
turns out childhood brand loyalty does not appear anywhere on a balance sheet. the market does not care that their chips were in my first computer. it does not award points for emotional attachment. I was investing with my memories instead of my eyes.
