thought I was being the smart, responsible one for once. held NVDA two years, figured I'd generate a little extra income selling covered calls against shares I wasn't planning to touch anyway. strike felt safely out of reach when I sold them. free money, basically. that's what everyone says, free money.

then the stock did the one thing I did not plan for and ripped 18% that week. blew right through my strike like it wasn't there. got assigned, shares called away, locked in a "gain."

technically a gain. sure. about a third of what I'd have had if I'd just sat on my hands and done absolutely nothing. the account balance is fine and I have never felt worse looking at a green number. those were my shares. two years. gone for premium that wouldn't cover a nice dinner. this is not financial advice
