My mother casually mentioned that she wants to learn driving. She never had the opportunity when she was younger because my father drove everywhere and later my sibling and I did.
The family reaction was disappointing. People laughed and asked why she needs to learn "at this age." Now she is pretending it was just a joke, but I know it wasn't. I could see she genuinely wanted that independence.
Has anyone helped a parent learn driving in their late 50s or 60s? I want to encourage her without making the whole thing feel like a dramatic family project.
