My neighbour retired a few years ago and somehow has a full calendar. He walks with a group every morning, plays cards twice a week, volunteers somewhere on Sundays and regularly attends local events.
I'm 30 and most of my social interactions happen through screens. Yesterday he saw me at home again and casually asked, "Beta, tumhare dost nahi aate?" I laughed, but the question hurt more than expected.
Did older generations build community better than us, or am I simply doing adulthood wrong?
