I booked a cab from the airport in Ahmedabad and the driver casually asked where my family was originally from. When I mentioned my grandfather's village, he suddenly looked surprised.
Turns out his mother grew up there too. For the rest of the ride we discussed people I barely remembered from childhood, and he somehow knew more about my extended family than I did.
