My landlord increased rent because i made the apartment look nice

When I moved in, the place was depressing. I added plants, better lighting, curtains and some removable wall panels.

Landlord visited and kept complimenting everything.

Two weeks later I received a rent increase notice.

His explanation?

“The property now presents at a higher standard.”

I increased my own rent.
