This was 2023. My very first options trade, and somehow I walked away with 60,000 profit. Beginner's luck, obviously, but I did not see it that way at the time. In my head I'd cracked some secret nobody else had figured out. I was convinced I had an edge.
So naturally, next trade, I tripled my position. Same "logic," same overconfidence, just three times the money riding on it because why not, I clearly knew what I was doing.
Lost the entire thing in one Thursday expiry. Gone. One bad expiry day wiped out the profit and then some, faster than it took to make it.
Looking back, I finally get why that first win felt so effortless. It wasn't skill. It was the market handing me just enough rope early on to make me bet big later. The easy money was the trap, not the reward.
