So I need some outside perspective on this.

I have a friend (23, turning 24) who lives and works in Bangalore. She’s been working for about 2–3 years and stays alone in a PG. She’s pretty extroverted.

Recently, she randomly met a guy at a restaurant. They started talking, exchanged Instagram, and have been in touch for about a month. But when I asked how much they’ve actually talked, she said that if you combine all their conversations, it would barely add up to around 3 full days in total.

Now here’s where it gets weird.

The guy is around 28–29, works at Deloitte, and according to her, is very career-focused. After just a month of this on-and-off conversation, he told her his family is already looking for a bride. He said that around April 10, he’ll be going home to meet a potential match his family has chosen.

At the same time, he asked my friend out and even said he could talk to her dad about marriage.

This completely freaked her out. She told me she doesn’t feel anything serious for him yet and doesn’t really know him. Also, she comes from a Jain family, and realistically, her family wouldn’t agree to something like this so quickly anyway.

I told her this feels way too fast and a bit suspicious, and that she should set clear boundaries and ask for more time if she even wants to continue talking to him. But honestly, even I feel like this is a red flag.

So I just want to know—

Is this normal and I’m overthinking, or is this actually as rushed and weird as it sounds?

Would really appreciate honest opinions.
