The NEET protest movement gathered pace in Mumbai, where police took swift action to prevent demonstrations from escalating.
According to officials, more than 200 protesters were detained during the day after authorities declared the gathering unauthorized, citing prohibitory orders that were already in force across parts of the city.
Police had pre-positioned barricades at key locations before the protest began and later transported those detained to police stations including Dadar, Sion, Mahim, and Worli for processing.
Most of the detainees were released later that night, while legal action was initiated against several participants.
Authorities registered 12 separate FIRs, with the majority of cases related to unlawful assembly and alleged violations of public order restrictions.
The incident reflects how the NEET protest has spread beyond Delhi, prompting varying responses from state authorities.
