Booked a "sea view" room at a budget hotel, feeling smart, imagining mornings with the ocean stretched out in front of me. The reality was a bit more technical. The sea was, indeed, visible. If you leaned dangerously far out of the bathroom window, at one very specific angle, squinting.
So the "sea view" was not a lie, exactly. It was a challenge. A small sliver of ocean available to anyone willing to risk their safety and contort themselves over a bathroom windowsill to earn it. Technically accurate, spiritually generous.
Naturally, I took the photo anyway. Executed the dangerous lean, found the angle, captured the sliver of blue, and posted it to the group chat like I was living the coastal dream.
And here's what I love about my people: nobody in the group chat questioned the extreme angle. Nobody asked why the framing was so aggressive or why half the shot was clearly a bathroom window. Not a single interrogation. Because we've all been there. We all know the budget "sea view" and the acrobatics it requires. The photo passed inspection, the sea was witnessed, honor upheld.
