If you're in Tamil Nadu, Chennai, Puducherry, Karaikal, or parts of Karnataka, today is a day to keep an eye on the weather.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 40–50 km/h across several parts of southern India.

The reason is a weak trough over the Tamil Nadu coast, which is expected to keep weather conditions unsettled through the day.

Here's what to expect:

• 🌧️ Chennai: Cloudy skies with intermittent light rain.

• ⛈️ Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal: Rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in many districts.

• 🌊 North Coastal Tamil Nadu: Rainfall activity is expected to increase further from tomorrow.

While widespread flooding isn't expected everywhere, localized waterlogging, traffic delays, and reduced visibility during heavy showers are possible.

For anyone heading outdoors, it's a good idea to carry rain gear, avoid low-lying waterlogged areas, and stay updated with local weather advisories, especially if thunderstorms develop.

The monsoon isn't done with South India just yet.
