Iran declared it shut. The numbers say otherwise: 8.5 million barrels moved through with US naval escort on Sunday alone, and the US Energy Department says total Gulf flows are still averaging 15 million barrels a day. Some ships are transiting with transponders switched off, which is its own tell — you don't hide movement through a route that's actually closed. Either Iran's declaration is more political signalling than physical fact, or a meaningful chunk of traffic is happening in the dark, literally.
